HONORARY LUNCHEON FOR UNITED METHODISTS’

AGAPE PROJECT OF ARMENIA

A luncheon in honor of the United Methodists’ AGAPE Project in Armenia was held on Sunday February 16th at the Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church in Charlotte. Unfortunately, the freezing rain and snow did not permit us to have all of our community members there. A core group was in attendance, and Hayr Soorp Daniel Findikyan and others were able to meet with Alec Alvord, director of the AGAPE Project, Mark Barden, director of Outreach and Missions for the Western North Carolina Conference, and Jamie Armstrong, pastor of the Hawthorne Lane UMC. We served yalanchi sarma, spinach boereg, salad, tomato and pepper dolma, and pakhlava for dessert. We also had “Haykakan soorj” (Armenian coffee) to serve! It was a delightful gathering that gave us a greater insight into this phenomenal project that has been truly guided by God through these very dedicated and Christ-filled missionaries from the United Methodist Churches of North Carolina.

We thank all of you for the prepared food that was to be part of the luncheon of this blessed event. We hope to have another opportunity for our community to meet our United Methodist friends and learn more about Project AGAPE and how we, as an Armenian church, can help our brothers and sisters in Armenia.

Also, please remember your surplus goods (clothing, shoes, sewing materials, hangers, etc.) for the AGAPE Project collection. We will keep you informed of the next collection time. It is very important that we participate in this project as everything that is collected goes to help the orphanages, hospitals and needy  Armenians in the zones destroyed by the earthquakes.
